Other than maybe Sandro Tonali, there weren't any Newcastle United players who could hold their heads up after the crushing 4-1 defeat against Bournemouth last week.

Newcastle were miles off their usual levels after a hectic couple of weeks of fixtures and even though we could only give Sandro Tonali a 6/10, that earned him our star man award last week as every player struggled.

The Magpies are back in action tomorrow after Eddie Howe gave his players a couple of days off before reporting back to training.

It's expected that everyone will be back to their top levels again as they look to get back to winning ways.

Awwww,friends!

Tino Livramento has admitted he was way off his game last week

Indeed, Tino Livramento has said he is 'mentally refreshed' (via Newcastle World) after last week. The £32 million former Southampton man admitted that the dressing room was a bad place to be last week and it took a talk with his Dad to bring him out of his funk.

“It hurts. It was a shock, the way we lost. The dressing room wasn’t a nice place to be after but we only have ourselves to look at and blame. That was nowhere near my level.

“We had a few days to think about it. I went home to my family and my Dad is good at opening me up and helping me talk about it. We’ve come back mentally refreshed now and this weekend, the Newcastle fans will see the Newcastle United they’re used to seeing.”

Newcastle have bounced back from shock defeats before

Newcastle have been good at bouncing back from shock defeats in the past, although this season, not so much. But given that last week's defeat halted such an impressive run of nine straight wins, the need to bounce back is very high.

Eddie Howe also spoke about the low energy levels shown last week, which explains why he gave the lads a couple of days to recover before running them into the ground on the training pitch.

We don't have long to wait now to see if his plan has worked and if Tino Livramento and Co can back up those words.
