After the PSR nightmare that ruined our summer, Newcastle United have to start thinking about selling players and there are a few stars whose contracts are set to expire in the summer so it would be wise to try and cash in on them in January.

Newcastle have tried for the past two windows to offload Miguel Almiron, but while there has been interest there for the Paraguayan, the deals just haven't been right for either the player or the club.

Another big star who was pointed towards the exit in the past two windows but still lingers is Callum Wilson. Eddie Howe seems reluctant to let him go and if I was a tin foil hat wearing kinda man, I'd suggest that Howe broke Wilson's back in pre-season so he couldn't be sold.

However, with Wilson's contract up in the summer and the fact that we're 10 games into the season and we've not even seen Wilson on the bench, it's our last chance to get some money for him in January, whatever the fee may be because if he's offered another deal ahead of the summer, then fans are going to lose their heads. The fans in our office will, at least.

If we can get money for Wilson we shouldn't even hesitate

Four Premier League clubs are willing to take a punt on Callum Wilson

A report in The Sun has now suggested that there are four Premier League clubs willing to take a punt on the £20 million personification of the word 'injury'.

Fulham, Crystal Palace, Brentford and Southampton are all reportedly looking at the 'outstanding' striker as a winter punt.

No fee has been suggested, but we doubt we'll be able to demand much for the former England man given his injury record, age and contract situation.

It's time to just let him go

In the January window this year there was talk of a few clubs eyeing Wilson with a fee of £18 million being mooted. We'll never understand why we didn't cash in on that when we had the chance, but that's hindsight for you.

Losing Wilson in January may seem like an odd move as the likelihood of signing a replacement before the summer is extremely low, but in reality, we've gone so far this season without him, so would it be that much of a big loss?

Getting a few million for him over losing him for free would be much better for our PSR headroom too which would open us up to be able to sign a better replacement, whether it be in January or the summer.
