It was a pretty good day for Newcastle United on Saturday, despite not having kicked a ball, as one big result swung in the Geordies' favour.

Manchester City knocked Newcastle down a peg on Friday when they scraped past Wolves with a 1-0 win, meaning the Magpies will kick off against Brighton in fourth place.

A win against the Seagulls will only see the Magpies jump up one spot, but now, thanks to Eddie Howe's former club, if Newcastle were to win their four remaining games, they will finish second in the Premier League regardless of other results.

Obviously, it's a huge task for Newcastle to do so four very tricky games starting with today's visit to Brighton, where we've not won in the Premier League - but we can take some comfort knowing that until yesterday, Bournemouth had never won at Arsenal either.

Can we make this man's head explode with rage?

Arsenal's dip in form is perfectly timed for Newcastle

Arsenal's drop-off in form has come at the perfect time for Newcastle, not only in terms of the Champions League race, but also the fact that we will come up against Mikel Arteta's men in two weeks.

If we can pick up three points on our travels today, we will go within two points of Arsenal and really pile the pressure on.

The key objective is just to finish in the top five and grab a spot in the Champions League, but how good would it feel if we snatched second place at the end of the season?

We could flood London if we win our next four games

After such an indifferent start to the campaign, we're just happy to actually be fighting for something at this point in the season, but to think that we could finish the season as the second-best team in the league. That's just gravy.

The cherry on the top of the gravy (mmm mixed metaphors) would be that we would have absolutely ruined Arsenal's season.

Imagine how big Ty's tears are going to look on AFTV through those jam jar glasses if they miss out on second place after believing for so long they'd win the league.
