Anthony Gordon may miss out on tomorrow's game against Fulham according to Eddie Howe

Eddie Howe spoke to the media this morning ahead of tomorrow's visit of Fulham to St James' Park for an old-fashioned 3pm Saturday kick-off in the Premier League.

The injury crisis that has been the main talking point of our season (beyond the Arsenal meltdown) is starting to abate itself slightly with Callum Wilson, Dan Burn and Sean Longstaff all recently making their returns.

However, like a Newton's cradle in full swing, it seems we get one player back and that knocks another one off. Kieran Trippier and Anthony Gordon both looked uncomfortable when coming off the pitch on Wednesday night against Milan.

Kieran Trippier is suspended for tomorrow anyway so would have been rested regardless, so it's not a major concern. Losing Anthony Gordon could be huge though.

Gordon was feeling tightness in his hamstring on Wednesday which is why he was replaced by Alexander Isak, and when facing the media this morning Eddie Howe didn't give much of an answer on whether Gordon would be fit. (Via The Chronicle).

"We are now getting a couple of players back but not in their best physical condition. Kieran misses this game through suspension so it is a good time for him to rest and we will see how he is next week.

"We will see how Anthony Gordon is today. Joe Willock in a period where he has had a couple of injections, a difficult injury but he won't be back this side of January."

Anthony Gordon has been far too important for us to lose him for any length of time

Anthony Gordon has been our main creative force this season and while Alexander Isak isn't a bad replacement to have normally, his performances since he returned from injury are way off what we know he's capable of.

We hope Gordon can shake off this injury as we need him more than any other player this season. He has been phenomenal, and although there's a risk of burnout, while he's still performing, we still want him in the side.

Fulham come into this game on the back of two consecutive 5-0 wins and face a 'keeper who has let in nine goals in three games. We are a tad nervous.
