Some transfer rumours carry more weight than others but there's one that has been bubbling under the surface at Newcastle United all summer and is likely to surface.

Kieran Trippier has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons this summer with speculation over the future of his marriage resurfacing after social media rumours followed him around at the back end of the year. That coupled with his sub-par performances for England while being forced to play out of position have Newcastle fans wondering what his club future looks like.

Trippier managed to get himself on the plane to Germany to represent England at Euro 2024 despite having an average season and having only recently returned from injury.

The £12million signing from Atletico Madrid got off to a flying start in the last campaign suggesting he was set to pick up where he left off from the season before, but injuries disrupted his run in the team and then the rumours around his home life surfaced and that coincided with a horrendous run of form.

Things haven't gone well for Trippier since December

His form started to pick up in the new year but then he was hit with another injury that was only supposed to keep him out for a couple of weeks, but that grew into a couple of months.

When Trippier returned to action he looked well off the pace, but the mere fact he was fit again was enough for Gareth Southgate.

The 33-year-old hasn't exactly covered himself in glory at the Euros but it's hard to place the blame squarely at his feet, he's out of position and getting little support from Phil Foden, but it's still got Newcastle fans wondering if it is indeed time to cash in while we can.

Trippier's days could be numbered at Newcastle

Trippier was wanted in January by Bayern Munich but the move never came to fruition, and just last month his name was mentioned in discussions between Newcastle and AC Milan, so it seems the club would be happy to let him move on this summer, and that's what journalist Graeme Bailey has told Geordie Boot Boys.

“Keep an eye on Kieran Trippier.

“It would not surprise me at all if he moves. We know that Bayern Munich and AC Milan like him.

“I think there is a good chance that Trippier might go.”
