Everyone knows about the Premier League's "Big Six" but some people will have you believe it's based purely on the club's standing in the Premier League, but Newcastle United fans have often referred to them as a cartel.

The dictionary definition of a cartel is: "an association of manufacturers or suppliers with the purpose of maintaining prices at a high level and restricting competition." That last part is absolutely key to what Newcastle, and indeed fans of many of "The Other 14" clubs have been saying.

So many rules that have come into force in the Premier League have been done to protect that "Big Six" and prevent any other club from breaking into that happy little group and challenging them for power and trophies.

Fans are being gaslighted into believing it's all a big conspiracy and that no such cartel exists, but now Manchester United part-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has dropped a clanger in a recent interview by practically admitting to the cartel being a real thing.

Jim Ratcliffe has dropped a clanger here

In his car-crash interview with Bloomberg in which he called Newcastle 'annoying' and 'difficult', Ratcliffe also admitted to there being a coalition in the Premier League of the six top clubs who have more influence than the others; basically, a fancy way of saying there was a cartel.

"There used to be a sort of coalition of the 6 major clubs who would have a certain level of influence in the Premiership but that broke down after the Super Club initiative.

"You need to be careful that the top six clubs are not disadvantaged because they don't get a reasonably strong say in that committee.

"Because at the end of the day, it's those top six or seven clubs that drive the Premiership, that's what the world is interested in."

The Glazers need to reel in Sir Jim because every time he speaks he damages Man United more and more

There's so much to unpack there it's unreal. We definitely recommend you watch the clip so you can actual hear him spout this drivel. We'll ignore the fact that he's the only person left alive who calls it the "Premiership" and that he didn't know that it was called the "European Super League", oh wait, we just pointed it out. Ah well.

Basically, what he's saying is that the top six used to run the Premier League until they tried to stab them in the back and break away, now they don't have the same amount of influence as they used to and it's more of a democracy and that's simply just not fair to those big clubs who want to do what they want, when they want and I'm going to tell my Mam!

For someone with as much money and power as he has, I've never known anyone stamp their feet and cry about not getting their own way as much, other than Donald Trump, and there are some parallels to be drawn there too, both talk absolute horseradish, both think they should be entitled to do whatever they want and both are tax-dodging swines of the highest order.

It's genuinely mind-blowing how he can sit there with a straight face and say that we can't dilute the power the top six clubs have when it's those very clubs that are ruining the game by removing any form of competition by throwing up walls any time a club gets close.
