Newcastle United are ready to make an offer to Juventus for 19-year-old defender Dean Huijsen, who is being regarded as "the defender of the future" by one outlet.

Huijsen, currently on loan at Roma from Juventus has had a breakout season at I Giallorossi. He has made 13 appearances in Serie A and numerous appearances in the Serie C.

It is thought that Huijsen could be a cheaper alternative to another Newcastle target Ousmane Diomande who is reportedly valued at £68million.

Reports suggest that Borussia Dortmund are also interested in bringing Huijsen in.

£25m for Huijsen to join Newacstle

SportWitness have reported that Newcastle already have a proposal ready to sign Huijsen, and the Magpies are thought to be prepared to pay the £25m for him.

Reports in Italy say that his loan to Roma will not be extended, so a symbolic green light has been shown to the Magpies.

Corriere Torino has said that Juventus value him at around £25m which is perfect for Newcastle.

Huijsen has garnered praise from legendary manager Jose Mourinho, who said that he is "one of the highest quality prospects in European football at his age level.

He also predicted that "he will be a great footballer in the future."

Is Huijsen the perfect young centre-back?

The 19-year-old, who was born in the Netherlands, but has represented Spain at the Under-17 level, would add more depth to a fairly weak backline.

Two of Newcastle's central defenders, Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles will both be missing until the end of 2024 due to cruciate ligament injuries leaving just Fabian Schar and Dan Burn as the starting centre-backs.

On Huijsen, Mourinho added: "If you ask me, he is ready to play, if he plays, he plays. #

"He has a great confidence in himself."
