Newcastle United face more injury woes as Joelinton now looks set to miss the visit of the Premier League champions.

It seems we simply cannot go a game without picking up at least one injury and Joelinton was the casualty from Saturday's derby win at the Stadium of Light.

Our midfield looks sorely lacking when the £40million Brazilian beast isn't in it, and that's against the moderate sides. Not having him when we face the likes of Manchester City is a huge miss.

Joelinton is likely to miss the Man City game on Saturday

However, it now looks like that's the fate we face at the weekend when Pep Guardiola brings his champions to town.

Joelinton has been in and out of the side all season with niggling little injuries. Probably down to the fact that Eddie Howe just won't let the man recover fully before throwing him back in the team.

Now Craig Hope has posted on X that although Joelinton's current injury isn't serious it will likely keep him out of the side this weekend.

"Hearing that Joelinton thigh injury will be enough to keep him out of Man City this weekend, although not too serious"

Let the man recover

Fortunately for Joelinton, the game against City is the last one before the winter break so he has the time to fully recover this time rather than being chucked into action only for him to come off at half time again.

He will be a huge miss, though as obviously, Man City are no pushovers and we need someone with Joey's tenacity and strength to throw their weight about in the middle of the park.

That being said, if there's a late fitness test or anything like that, I'd rather we just kept him out of it so that he can recover rather than risk him.
