There was a spot of positive news for Newcastle United today as a player they've got their eye on informed their club that they'd be leaving at the end of the month.

Amario Cozier-Duberry has told Arsenal that he will leave the club when his contract expires on 30th June according to The Standard.

The 19-year-old has reportedly broken the news to Arsenal in the last 24 hours about his decision to move on which will have many clubs on high alert.

Newcastle have been keeping tabs on his contract situation since January and are expected to be among the many clubs vying for his signature next month.

Cozier-Duberry has been likened to Bukayo Saka

Cozier-Duberry already has offers from sides in Belgium, France, Netherlands and Germany as well as the interest from England, so it'll be far from an easy hit for Eddie Howe.

The winger has been likened to Bukayo Saka by Arsenal U18s coach Jack Wilshere even going as far as to say he has the same thing to work on as Saka did when he was coming through the ranks.

“Amario is very exciting and Mikel [Arteta] likes him. He reminds me of Bukayo Saka, plays in the same position as him, needs to get better with his decision-making like Bukayo did, but he’s definitely exciting.

“In some moments he’s unplayable. You give him the ball and he can make things happen. You can set up a team and have a game plan, but when you’ve got individuals like that you’ve got a chance.”

Arsenal wanted to wait another year before giving Cozier-Duberry a first-team shot

Arsenal fans will likely feel that his decision will be a big blow given how he was hotly tipped to be the next big thing through the academy.

Unfortunately for the Gunners, his contract has expired before they've had the chance to give him a chance in the first-team and with Arsenal believing he's still another year away from breaking through, the youngster has decided to try his luck elsewhere.

It now remains to be seen who can convince him that they're the best fit for him going forward and of course, whether or not Newcastle will be the one.
