Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is currently on international duty with Brazil as they participate in the Copa America.

Brazil play their final group game tonight against Colombia having already qualified for the knock-out phase of the competition.

Despite the pressure being off and Bruno being a booking away from suspension, the 26-year-old has told Brazilian outlet UOL that he hopes coach Dorival doesn't rest him tonight.

Dorival, if he’s going to spare people, don’t spare me because I want to play. I’m always hungry, I want to be on the pitch. If I get a card I’m out for the quarter-finals, so I don’t know what will happen.”

Bruno has shared what keeps him going during a tough campaign

Bruno has now played 62 games since the start of last season, a record for him, and he revealed to UOL how he manages to keep going and avoids fatigue.

“I don’t even know. It’s a lot of training, investment in equipment to help me after matches, I have physiotherapy, a nutritionist. That makes a difference.

“I played 62 games this season, my record. It’s been hard to recover from that, but it’s a worthwhile effort to be in the team. In the Premier League every game is very intense. Off the pitch it’s important to recover well, eat well, sleep well.”

Speculation over Bruno's future remains a hot topic

The future of Bruno Guimaraes has been a hot topic all summer and that's likely to continue until the transfer window closes, but Newcastle managed to get through the four-week period in which Guimaraes' £100million release clause was active without there being any approach.

Now that the clause has expired, any club still keen on Bruno will have to negotiate a fee with the club first and Newcastle have made it very clear they have no intention to sell their star man.

Similarly, Bruno himself has also stated his desire to remain on Tyneside next season.
