Since Eddie Howe came through the doors at Newcastle United there has been a clear progression on the pitch in how the team plays.

Maybe that's been less evident this season after the huge strides that were taken initially, but you'd be crazy to think that the Magpies aren't still progressing.

As much as Howe has improved the team, what really stands out is how much he has improved certain individuals. Nobody needs reminding of the Joelinton redemption story arc.

Another player that Howe has managed to get the best out of is Miguel Almiron, who, like Joelinton, arrived at Newcastle for a record fee - Almiron was £21million which was broken by Joelinton arriving for £40million - and then for the longest time failed to live up to expectations.

Miggy has praised Eddie Howe in today's match programme

Almiron and Joelinton are two of Howe's biggest success stories

Both Miguel Almiron and Joelinton had incredible seasons for Newcastle last season with Almiron staging his own Goal of the Month competition in October 2022 when everything he hit seemed to go into the back of the net.

Things haven't gone as well for the Paraguayan this season, but that's been the case for a lot of players at the club. However, nobody is more aware of this than Miggy himself, and he says as much in an interview he's done for the Official Matchday Programme, which has now also been published on nufc.co.uk.

"Last season and at the start of this one as well, I felt very good in myself in terms of my own form. I always try to keep improving my game and I always try to be my own harshest critic. I always have a feeling of frustration when things aren't quite going for me, but I always try to work hard on correcting any errors in my game and to improve from day to day."

Miggy says Howe has helped his playing style evolve

Miggy then goes on to state just how important Eddie Howe has been to his development.

"I think my playing style has really evolved a lot. I think that Eddie Howe coming here has helped me greatly in every way. The coach showed a lot of confidence in me and really put his trust in me.

"I think that was also very good for me on a personal level - the manager knew how to get the best out of me, and I've also had a lot of help in areas where I needed it, one of which was my finishing. I'm always working on that. After every training session I stay behind, and I strive to improve in that aspect of my game. And I'm aware and I realise that I am improving as a result of all this."

Almiron will be looking to be involved in the action today as Newcastle United take on West Ham United at St James' Park - Kick-off is at 12:30pm live on TNT Sport.
