Newcastle United are in talks with an unnamed club in the Saudi Pro-League over the sale of Miguel Almiron, according to reports.

Almiron, who joined the club in January 2019 was almost sold to Saudi club Al-Shabab earlier this year but the move collapsed after the Paraguayan international declined the move away.

There may be some fears that the same will happen again, but Almiron also may have wanted to finish the season with Newcastle before moving elsewhere.

Newcastle have already announced the departure of Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh today.

Newcastle set to cash in on Miguel Almiron this summer

The 30-year-old is out of contract this time next year, so this transfer window is the last time that Newcastle boss Eddie Howe can get a decent fee for him.

Before the bid collapsed in January there was talk of a £30m price tag for Almiron. It will now be significantly less due to poor performances and the contract winding down.

Keith Downie of Sky Sports has reported that the fee and the club are still unknown but talks have been talking place for Almiron.

The club were desperately looking to sell players late last week with the PSR deadline looming but now the sale of Almiron will be an added bonus on the profit made.

A poor season for Almiron

Following a fantastic 2022/23 campaign, the wheels fell off for Almiron in 2023/24.

He scored just three goals in the Premier League last season, providing one assist.

It's a long way from his successful 2022/23 campaign where he scored 11 league goals.

The departure of Almiron opens the door for a top-class right-winger to join the club. Names such as Brian Mbuemo, Yohan Bakayoko and Pedro Neto are all mentioned as players who Howe is keen on.
