What a night for the Geordie boys as Newcastle United booked their place in the Carabao Cup quarter-final with a resounding win over Manchester United.

Crisis? What crisis? Eddie Howe's depleted Mags looked absolutely outstanding against Erik ten Hag's much-changed Manchester United side.

Both managers made a raft of changes for this game, but you'd never know it the way Newcastle played with every man stepping up to the plate in style.

Newcastle picked up another injury with Matt Targett withdrawing in the third minute

Newcastle had a nightmare start picking up yet another injury as Matt Targett looked to have tweaked a hamstring in the second minute of the game. He was replaced by Miguel Almiron who may have been hoping for more of a rest.

We said before kick-off that it was a change for Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall to shine and my word, did they! Livramento was absolutely outstanding for Newcastle's opener. Dispossessing a Man United forward on the edge of his own box and carrying the ball forward to the edge of the opposition box before sliding the ball through for Miguel Almiron to apply the finish.

Lewis Hall bagged his first senior goal and he got it for the club he supported as a boy. Hall hit a sweet volley on the edge of the area into the bottom corner before Joe Willock wrapped up the game in the second half with a sublime finish from outside the area.

Sean Longstaff wore the captain's armband on his 150th appearance

Geordie Sean Longstaff, making his 150th appearances for the club wore the captain's armband and led the side to only their second win at Old Trafford in over 40 years.

After Willock scored on his first start of the season, the night of comebacks was almost complete as Emil Krafth who has been out for 14 months almost nabbed a goal for himself late on but couldn't direct his header beyond Andre Onana.

Newcastle now go on to the quarter-finals after knocking out both Manchester sides.
