A couple of days ago we shared that former Newcastle United striker Salomon Rondon was lighting up the Copa America with three Player of the Match displays in as many games.

While Venezuela were eventually dumped out of the Copa America by Canada last night it wasn't before Rondon gave the world one more piece of magic.

Rondon had just one season on loan at Newcastle but fans quickly fell in love with the robust striker and held hopes that his loan move would turn permanent.

However, when Rafa Benitez signalled his intention to leave the club, that put any hopes of a Rondon signing to bed and the gaffer and the striker both moved to Dalian Professional in the Chinese Super League.

Rondon scored a screamer to take Canada to extra time

Rondon returned to the Premier League with Everton but that move turned out to be a disaster and he disappeared to Argentina and now plays in Mexico.

The 34-year-old faded into obscurity and you'd be forgiven for not knowing that he was still playing before he turned up at the Copa America.

The former West Brom man gave Venezuela a lifeline last night, levelling things up with a ridiculous 40-yard-lob which took the game to extra time and penalties where Canada prevailed.

That was one enthusiastic commentator

If you have decided to read this all the way through before watching the clip then we advise you adjust your volume as the commentator made sure that he could be heard in Venezuela no matter where you watch the video. If you jumped in and watched it before seeing this warning, welcome to the tinnitus club.

We're gutted for Rondon being knocked out after having such a great tournament, but it's great to see him still firing.

Bruno Guimaraes is still in the competition and his Brazil side take on Uruguay at 2am Sunday morning.
