Chris Sutton has made his prediction for this weekend's game between Bournemouth and Newcastle United.

Newcastle make the long journey to Bournemouth on Saturday for the 5:30 pm kick-off as Eddie Howe once again returns to the club that put him on the map.

Like a General leading his wounded troops into one last battle, Howe's squad is still heavily depleted with 11 players out and those who are fit are being put to the test now playing at the weekend and midweek consistently.

Bournemouth currently have seven players on the injury list

Bournemouth are far from having a clean bill of health themselves which should help Newcastle to get something out of the game.

You'd expect Newcastle to win this game given the contrast in form and Premier League positions, and even with a depleted squad like the one Howe is dealing with, it should still be a relatively easy game.

However, football is more than capable of springing a surprise so guarding against complacency is key.

Chris Sutton is going for a Newcastle win on Saturday

With that being said, Chris Sutton is confident that Newcastle will rise to the challenge and come away with the three points in his prediction for the BBC.

"Newcastle's injuries are piling up but I still fancy Eddie Howe's side to bounce back from Tuesday's defeat at Borussia Dortmund, on his return to his former club.

"No matter how stretched the Magpies squad is, they should have too much for a Bournemouth side that is in a relegation battle. I'm going for another Cherries old boy, Callum Wilson to score the winner against his old club.

"Sutton's prediction: 1-2"

We're more impressed by Sutton's faith that Wilson is going to be fit enough to play a part.
