Injuries injuries injuries - that seems to be all we get to write about these days.

Callum Wilson has today confirmed his withdrawal from the England squad but has posted a very defiant message in doing so.

Eddie Howe had said that Wilson was 50/50 to face Bournemouth on Saturday evening and the fact that he was just named in the England squad, Newcastle fans had hope that his recent injury wasn't a huge cause for concern.

Wilson has confirmed his latest injury setback via social media

Unfortunately, after the Bournemouth game Howe confirmed that Wilson's injury was worse than first thought and then the next day it was rumoured that Wilson had withdrawn from international duty.

That news was confirmed on Monday morning in the media and then later in the morning Callum Wilson posted a strong message confirming the news.

"Unfortunately, a recent setback has meant I had to withdraw from the squad that I’d worked so hard to be a part of.

"Strong walls shake but never collapse, so for sure I’ll be back soon

"Good luck to the lads in the upcoming fixtures."

Unless Wilson is 100% fit he should not be risked against Chelsea

It's not clear whether "soon" means he'll be back for the Chelsea game, but we don't need to be rushing him back and making things worse.

We would rather make do with a makeshift striker than risk the ones we have and making their injuries worse and losing them for the rest of the season.

Honestly, this injury crisis is seriously taking its toll on us - we just want to be positive again.
