As poor as Newcastle United's recruitment was over the past two windows, the club was equally poor at getting players to move on.

There were a trio of first-team players on the chopping block, all of whom could have brought in decent money for the club and all three are still on the books.

Kieran Trippier was linked with a move to Bayern Munich in January and then Turkey in the summer, Callum Wilson was drawing interest from other Premier League clubs in January then picked up a back injury in the summer which ruled out a move.

Finally, Miguel Almiron was linked with the Saudi Pro League in January and again in the summer as well as a return to the MLS with Charlotte entering negotiations with Newcastle at one point.

Miguel Almiron's favourite colour is toast

Miguel Almiron seemingly refused to leave Newcastle

The moves were pretty much there for Miguel Almiron but the £21 million former record signing seemed adamant to stay on Tyneside, clearly not getting the hint at all.

It seems that now the season is underway and Miggy has just an hour of football to his name, the 30-year-old is finally getting the message.

Give Me Sport now claim that the Paraguayan is open to a move away from the club in January and even has a preference of where he wants to go.

Miggy would return to the MLS in January

There was a feeling that Miggy would have returned to the MLS with Charlotte if the clubs were able to come to an agreement, however, the strict salary cap in place at the MLS made the move impossible.

However, if an opportunity came along for Miggy to return to the USA, that's where he'd prefer to go rather than to Saudi Arabia.

Surely Darren Eales still has some pull at Atlanta United. Do they not want him back? Get on the blower and sort it out, Daz.
