Player Ratings

Nick Pope - 7

Another solid game by Nick Pope, who had very little to do once again as villa offered nothing in attack

Kieran Trippier - 9

Another masterclass from Trippier who put on a World Cup performance in front of the England manager

Fabian Schär - 8

Another clean sheet for Schar, who, alongside Botman has been unbelievable all season.

Sven Botman - 8

Botman has formed a partnership with Schar that's the best in the league. Once again, he proved why as Newcastle dominated Villa

Dan Burn - 8

Burn had probably his best display at LB under Howe, effortlessly keeping the Villa right side silent all game

Joe Willock - 7

Willock was certainly full of good attacking running once again. However, he struggled to finish any chances. That said, Villa being so out of it for most of the game, there wasn't much chance for Willock to shine

Bruno Guimarães - 8

Slightly sloppy with possession at times, Bruno was deadly with his attacking passes breaking Villa's line with ease

Sean Longstaff - 7

A quiet game for Longstaff, who had very few attacks to break up. But, what he did do, he did well

Miguel Almirón - 9

Another superb goal for Miggy has surely set him up to claim the October Player of the Month award

Joelinton - 9

With the Brazil national team coach watching, Joelinton had one of his best games of the season. Sealed with a cool finish to top it off

Callum Wilson - 10

Had been in the heads of the Villa players all game, and was able to take his penalty and place it perfectly down the middle of the goal. Wilson got a second early in the second half, and with Southgate watching, he might have secured his spot in the England squad.

Subs - 7

Ultimately, brought on to give the lads on the pitch a rest. Murphy once again hit the post, and Wood should have scored an easy chance late on.

Our Newcastle v Aston Villa Man of the Match: Callum Wilson

Another cool performance by the Newcastle number nine as he moved to 6 goals for the season
