Last night Newcastle United were handed another tough draw in the Carabao Cup as they will face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The euphoria of demolishing Manchester United at Old Trafford took a slight dent as Newcastle's reward for a fantastic performance was an away tie against Premier League opposition yet again.

Facing Chelsea isn't as much of a daunting prospect as it once was as Todd Boehly is yet to find the magic formula after spending £1bn on transfers.

Pochettino has steadied Chelsea but Newcastle can still beat them

Mauricio Pochettino has come in and steadied the ship somewhat but they're still way off the quality they used to be.

Newcastle will feel that they can go to Stamford Bridge and come away with another win and bag a semi-final place in the Carabao Cup.

However, they may have to do it without last night's goal scorer Lewis Hall.

While Newcastle have an agreement in place with Chelsea to buy Lewis Hall from them for an initial £28million at the end of the season, he is still technically a Chelsea player this season.

Chelsea could allow Hall to play for Newcastle in the next round

That means he won't be able to face Chelsea in the Premier League as rules forbid it, but in terms of the Carabao Cup, if the club who holds the player's contract give written permission to the other club, they can field an on-loan player should the two sides meet.

So as things stand, Lewis Hall is ineligible to face Chelsea in the next round, but if Newcastle were to make a request and Chelsea were to oblige with written permission, he could play.

Let's be honest, though, if you were Chelsea would you grant permission for one of your current players to potentially knock you out of a cup competition?

It looks likely then, that Newcastle will have to get past Chelsea without Hall in the side.
