Arsenal have reportedly resigned themselves to losing another one of their hot prospects after Amario Cozier-Duberry left for Brighton earlier this month.

16-year-old Chido Obi Martin has plenty of admirers and is set to choose his next club as he approaches his 17th birthday when he will be eligible to sign his first professional contract.

Newcastle United are one of the clubs who hope to be his next destination, although Fabrizio Romano would have us believe that Manchester United are current frontrunners.

Obi Martin visited Manchester United recently as he weighs up his options.

Chido scored 10 goals in ONE game

There is still plenty of time for him to visit Newcastle and indeed one of the many other clubs lining up for his signature before his 17th birthday so all is not lost just because he's been spotted at Man United.

So why all the fuss over a 16-year-old? Last season Chido scored 10 goals in a 14-3 win over Liverpool U16s which saw him promoted to the U18s where he bagged an eye-watering 32 goals ... in 18 games.

Frankly, it's amazing that there aren't even more clubs lining up to take him away from Arsenal. In fact, it's baffling that Arsenal are resigned to losing him. Offer the kid first-team football, you need a striker!

Why not just replace Callum Wilson with a 17-year-old?

Chido Obi Martins' birthday is 29th November, so Arsenal have plenty of time to convince him to stay, and if that means using him in the first team we'd not be shocked if they did.

Fingers crossed Newcastle get their shot at trying to convince the youngster to join the Magpies. Especially as it looks like we're stuck with Callum "Part Man Part Gurney" Wilson.

If we don't bring in a third striker this summer we may need to call on some young'uns to fill the void.
