Jonathan Kane is Newcastle United's new Director of Partnerships, having been poached from his role as Liverpool's Vice-President of Partnership Sales.

Kane will work closely with Chief Commercial Officer, Peter Silverstone at St. James' Park, to drive commercial growth. He will also handle the club's relationships with its commercial partners and lead the ongoing global search for future partnerships.

Silverstone spoke to NUFC.co.uk, saying:

"I am delighted to welcome Jonathan to Newcastle United at this hugely exciting time for the club.

"He has an outstanding track record in the sports industry and will bring unique skills, knowledge and experience to our talented internal team.

"We are on a journey to build a sustainable, leading, Premier League and European club, and we are putting in place a skilled, diverse and dedicated group of people on and off the pitch to drive our development."

Kane himself commented:

"I am excited to be joining Newcastle United, particularly at a time of unprecedented growth for the club.

"I am looking forward to working with the talented group of people here at St. James' Park and building an exceptional partnership business together."

Beginning his career as a Sales Executive at Sale Sharks Rugby Club, Kane has since worked for business both inside and outside of the sports industry, most recently spending seven years as part of Liverpool Football Club's commercial team.

All the best to Jonathan in his new role, he'll have an essential part to play in making sure financial fair play doesn't severely hamper our efforts to improve the squad for too much longer.
