Jacob Murphy sends three-word message to 26-year-old Newcastle man after what he did last night

It has been a pretty decent week for Newcastle United's Sean Longstaff.

Sean Longstaff turned 26 on Monday and then on Wednesday night captained his boyhood club as he made his 150th appearance for Newcastle.

After Eddie Howe made eight changes to his starting XI for the Carabao Cup tie against Manchester United, he was without his three usual captains, Jamaal Lascelles, Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson, so the duty fell to Sean Longstaff.

It was surely an extremely proud moment for the lad who thought his NUFC career was over a couple of years ago.

One man who knew what it would have meant to Longy is fellow Toon fan, Jacob Murphy who is currently out injured after dislocating his shoulder in the Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund.

Posting an image of Longstaff sporting the captain's armband on his Instagram reel, Murphy captioned it with a simple three-word message.

Short. Simple. Sweet.

Imagine leading your boyhood club out at Old Trafford as captain and inspiring them to a resounding 3-0 win. Longstaff must have been absolutely buzzing last night.

We're sure it won't be the last time we see him with the armband on.
