Jacob Murphy put in a Man of the Match performance on the pitch this afternoon.
As a recipient of the Eddie Howe magic touch, Jacob Murphy has become a phenomenal player for Newcastle over the last year and if there were still doubters out there, his goal and two assists this afternoon against Crystal Palace should be all the convincing they need.
Aside from an upturn in quality, Murphy has cemented his place as the Newcastle funny man, to the point that he makes fans laugh when he's probably not even trying - his reaction to the Champions League anthem blaring around St James' Park was equally touching and funny.
Who can forget that face when he scored his rasping goal against Tottenham last season in the 6-1 win? Or that little wave he did behind Alexander Isak in the club's Guess Who? video?
Murphy just seems to have a gift for being naturally funny and he's done it again today.
Newcastle United posted a clip on Instagram of the lads coming off the pitch after their 4-0 demolition of Crystal Palace and the 28-year-old, who always seems to know where the camera is, counted four on his fingers and mugged at the camera before disappearing down the tunnel.
The rest of the team came off the pitch looking rather pleased with themselves, and rightly so, it was an outstanding team performance.
Much like Joelinton and Sean Longstaff, if you'd have said just over two years ago that Jacob Murphy would become a key member of the squad you'd probably have been laughed out of Newcastle.
What a time to be a Mag!
