Newcastle United have absolutely no intention of selling Alexander Isak this summer but still rumours will persist that the likes of Liverpool will be full of confidence they can make their move.

Liverpool sewed up the Premier League title at the weekend and will understandably be feeling pretty good about themselves, and they'll be feeling immortal right now, which is why they likely genuinely believe they have a shot of luring Alexander Isak away from St James' Park.

Or, should we say that journalists who absolutely love the Big Six will be feeling like Liverpool can lure Isak away, because let's be honest, in their eyes, only the 'big six' are allowed 'world-class' players.

Thankfully, not all journalists are created equal, and while The Telegraph's Luke Edwards has a good record of rubbing our fans up the wrong way, he does often come up with some nice positivity for us to cling to. Like now.

Luke Edwards is confident that Alexander Isak will be staying put this summer

Speaking to BBC Sport, along with former West Ham midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker, the Isak debate raised its head with Reo-Coker saying Liverpool need a striker and that Alexander Isak ticks all the boxes.

Luke Edwards was quick to play that down and even went on to post on X that it would take a hefty bid just to get Newcastle to look in Liverpool's direction.

"As I’ve said many times people will want to sign Isak, there will be lots of talk of Isak joining this club or that club, but all I will add to those who wish to try is “good luck with that…” it will take an offer of more than £150m to even start a conversation with #nufc"

Yasir Al-Rumayyan has instructed the board to reject all offers for Isak

Newcastle had reportedly set a £150 million price tag on Isak heading into the new year to put off other clubs from making a bid, but now Edwards is suggesting that it would take a £150 million bid just to get a seat at the table to be told face-to-face where to go.

Newcastle chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan has instructed the board to resist any offers for Isak this summer, and we imagine they were going to do that anyway, but now that the boss has mandated it, we're sure it will be done.

Still, none of this will stop the relentless media speculation.
