Lineup

Player Ratings

Pope - 7

Probably needed a clean sheet after his game for England but was let down late on by a sleeping back line

Trippier - 8

Trippier was one of the players who took full advantage of the 10-men of Fulham. Given space on the right side, he was a menace to Fulham for the entire game

Schar - 7

A solid game by Schar, who left the field with a clean sheet. Sadly, the remaining NUFC defenders couldn't hold onto the clean sheet

Botman - 7

Not much to do for Botman or Schar today, and sadly after the changes at the back he was part of a back line that fell asleep for the Fulham goal

Burn - 8

No doubt Fulham losing a man helped Burn, but he once again had a solid display on the left side

Willock - 7

Willock had a handful of chanced, and could have scored the opener, bar Wilson cutting in to secure it.

Longstaff - 8

Put in another great shift at CDM for Newcastle, and chipped in with a well taken goal to seal a big win

Guimaraes - 8

Removed early in the second half to protect him, but Bruno's class was once again easy to see

Almiron - 10

Easy to say it was the best game Miggy has had in a Newcastle shirt. While it was certainly easy for him to play against 10 men, he deserved what he got from the game. He'll be more disappointed not to get a hatrick

Murphy - 7

Murphy was full of running, and was described as “lively” by the comms. It probably sums up Murphy for NUFC

Wilson - 8

Back from injury and goal to boot. Wilson came off early to protect him from injury but it was a typical Wilson display, and it's safe to say we're happy to see him back

Subs - 6

It was great to see Anderson get an extended running. While Fraser will be frustrated that he got caught offside after he chipped the keeper. The final changes saw a complete shift to the backline, with Newcastle conceding shortly after.

Match reaction to follow

It's a nice feeling [to get the win]. The performances have been good of late. Unfortunately, I have not been part of that but the lads have been putting in great performances and just didn't have three points to show for it, but everything came together today. The performance today was about mindset. Today we knew we had to start fast against a team that have been playing well and thankfully we have come out on top to get the three points." - Wilson
Callum Wilson is a goal scorer - that instinct in him is razor sharp. But he has only just come back and I am pleased I was ale to protect him and Bruno Guimaraes. They have not done a huge amount of training so it was nice to be able to protect them. On Miguel Almiron's performance: "Mickey epitomises our team. He has been excellent but not had the goals to match his performances. Today he got the two and played really well. On having competition for places: "I have had the other problem, which is not enough players, so it is good that our squad is looking very strong, with competition in every position. "The lads are disappointed not to get the clean sheet, but this is not the day to pick holes, it is a day to be happy and see the fans celebrate. A big thank you to them." - Howe speaking to BBC
