Player ratings

Pope - 6

Wasnt given a great deal to do during the game. Bar the goal, looked solid.

Trippier - 8

Easily the most creative of the players on the pitch. Will be frustrated his team failed to make good on more of his chances.

Schar - 6

Like the midfield, Schar needed to do more to get Newcastle attacking faster. He spent the last minutes of the game going for long shots to no avail.

Burn - 7

Looked solid coming in for Botman who was carrying a knock. Despite his lack of pace, he was able to stop most of the attacking threat Bournemouth had to offer

Targett - 7

Worked well on the left side to offer team an attacking option. Like Trippier, however, he saw few of his chances land to attackers.

Joelinton - 7

Wa aa typical Joelinton show in midfield. Though, Bournemouth were well prepared to go toe to toe with him. Failed to offer much of an attacking option until late into the game.

Willock - 6

A game that largely seemed to pass Willock by. He was one of the few to offer an attacking run from midfield, but it just isn't going his way this season.

Guimaraes - 7

Looke like a plater returning from injury. But certainly showed the player Newcastle have been without for a few weeks.

Almiron - 6

Migg ccertainly ran a lot and pressured, but he once again showed how much Newcastle miss ASM being out on the opposite side. With so few options to replace him, Howe looks set to continue with the Paraguay International

Isak - 8

It was a frustrated in first half for Isak. The defence shut done any chances that came his way. But took his penalty beautiful as he scored his first goal at SJP and added to his total.

Fraser - 6

Fraser cut a frustrated figure throughout his time on the pitch. With the Bournemouth fans keen to let him know how they felt about him.

Subs: 6

Failed to make a significant enough impact on the game. Wood should probably have come on a lot sooner.

Post match reaction

Our performance was below the level we set ourselves. We played in front of them too much. I felt we were off in every aspect of our game. It was a difficult watch towards the end. We needed to do a lot better to break them down - Howe
