Anthony Gordon has recently put pen to paper on a new deal at Newcastle United and outlined his huge ambitions for the club going forward.
In an interview with the club following the new deal Gordon spoke of his ambitions for this season to get into the Champions League and to win a trophy.
While he acknowledged that people may see those claims as delusional, he was adamant that's where the club should be aiming and reinforced his desire to bring a trophy to Tyneside.
In his pre-match press conference on Friday morning Eddie Howe was asked for his feelings on Gordon's ambitions.
Eddie Howe told reporters (via The Chronicle) that he fully backs what Anthony Gordon said, saying that it's 'crucial' that's how his players think.
"It's crucial, you know, we have to have a perception of achievement, growing as a football club to keep not just the so called 'big names' happy, but everyone happy and going in the right direction as it can very quickly go the other way.
"So I think myself, everybody connected with the club has a big job to try and keep positive. The dream is really big and it's absolutely crucial that we continue to do that.
"Now you have to act in the pitch as well. I can't just talk about it. You have to deliver on the pitch and that's what we're trying to do."
As we keep saying, even during our rants about how badly we've started the season, there's still a lot of football to play and Newcastle could easily find themselves in the Champions League places come May.
As for a trophy, we're still in both cups as things stand, so why not?
Let's get carried away!
