Eddie Howe has spoken to the press this morning ahead of tomorrow's Premier League game against Bournemouth.
The Newcastle United boss has just had his two-year anniversary in the role, and what a two years it has been.
Since Howe came in we've avoided relegation after not winning in our first 14 games, something that had never been done before in the Premier League. We've been to Wembley for a cup final, qualified for the Champions League and broken so many records along the way including a run of 10 games without conceding a goal.
All that is before we even mention how much he's improved the squad. Not just in terms of the quality transfers he's brought in, but probably more importantly, just how much more he's been able to get out of the players who were already here before he arrived.
Joelinton, Jacob Murphy, and Miguel Almiron all looked well below Premier League level, now they are playing in the Champions League and don't look out of place at all.
He rescued the career of Sean Longstaff who had been so badly treated by the previous manager that he was considering walking away from the game.
Howe was asked about his two years at the helm by reporters (via The Chronicle) and unsurprisingly it was all positive from him.
“It’s been an incredible two years. When you have an anniversary, you realise how quick time goes. When you look back at some of the memories within that time, it’s been an amazing period in my life. I can’t thank the directors, the owners, the players, the supporters enough for everything they have given to help the team.”
Here's to many more!
