Newcastle United are ready to write a "once-in-a-generation" cheque to finally put an end to the stadium expansion saga, according to reports.

Ever since the takeover in October 2021, the future of St James' Park has been one of the key talking points.

The consensus was that the ground could be expanded but complications with listed buildings around the cathedral on the hill mean it's much harder to achieve what fans would like.

Another option was a completely new stadium which some fans may be against the move but is something that could happen to help the club grow commercially.

Brad Miller shows his commitment to Newcastle United

In an incredibly revealing interview with The I, Brad Miller opened up about his move to Tyneside and the future of St James' Park.

Miller said: “It’d be remiss of me to go early and cut across that but what I will say is that (St James' STACK) is just an indication of the ambition and the commitment and the dedication that the ownership and everybody within the club has got, not just to Newcastle United, but to the region as well.

“We hope it’s representative and a little bit of a hint to what we’re hoping to achieve into the future.

"The stadium investment is genuinely a once-in-a-generation opportunity and we want to make sure that we get that right.

“So there’s a lot for us to think about and that’s why we are, maybe frustratingly for people, taking our time to make sure that our next steps are going to be the right ones.

“Because whilst we’ve got the ability to invest and the commitment and the ambition to invest from the ownership, we only want to write that cheque once so we want to make sure we get it absolutely right for everybody that’s involved with the club.”

A new stadium would be easier for Newcastle

HSK, the group behind the iconic SoFi Stadium in California held talks with the Magpies last year. They told I that a state-of-the-art solution was possible but it would be expensive.

SoFi cost $4.8billion to build, surely it wouldn't cost as much as this for Newcastle but it wouldn't be too far off.

Further communication on St James' Park's future is expected from the club before the Autumn.

As it stands, no decision has been made on what is going to happen with the new stadium but fans have every right to get excited with what's to come.
