Newcastle United have been in training today ahead of their final Premier League game of the season on Sunday down at the G-Tech Community Stadium where they'll take on Brentford.

Eddie Howe spoke to the media this morning and gave a positive update on Callum Wilson who has been missing in action for the last two games as well as flaking on a fan event in mid-week much to the annoyance of many supporters who had taken the time to log in to see him.

His latest in a long line of absences was said to be down to illness with Howe suggesting Wilson would be available on Sunday, however, there was no sign of the £20million signing from Bournemouth in today's training photos posted on the official website.

The gallery never does feature everyone who trained, but often when a player is left out of the images it's to hide the fact that they will return for the next game, it's strange that they'd hide Wilson if he was training after Howe has assured us that he'll be fit.

Anthony Gordon was also missing from the gallery

Anthony Gordon wasn't seen in the gallery, which makes sense with Eddie Howe casting doubt over his fitness this morning.

Again, that doesn't mean he didn't train, but given he hobbled off the pitch on Wednesday night, it's very possible he was given the day off to rest and recover so that he is available for Brentford on Sunday.

Gordon, like Fabian Schar, has had a good record of shaking off knocks in time for the next game this season, so we're confident he'll be fit. He'll want to make sure Gareth Southgate knows he's available for international duty.

Spirits look high in the camp heading into Sunday's game

Alexander Isak, who has also been ill lately, was shown in full training. Hopefully, he's fully recovered because he has been miles off his best in the last two games.

The lads all look to be in good spirits with Alexander Isak carrying Jacob Murphy around on his back, like he hasn't been carrying us all season eh? EH?

After the game on Sunday the lads will hop on a plane and head to Australia for the much-maligned friendly in Oz.
